Hello. I'm André Mattis, a front end web developer based in New York City.
I currently work at Watermark Insights as the Front End Architect, where I lead a specialized team responsible for building reusable HTML Web Components for all the company’s products. The web components have a number of advantages, including ensuring visual consistency, as well as built-in functionality and accessibility. In fact, one of my most exciting duties is helping to ensure that our products meet accessibility standards. I also supervise the front end development for our latest product, reviewing code, and collaborating with the scrum teams.
When I began working with websites, it was mainly as a visual designer in a .NET shop. I then progressed to coding the HTML, JavaScript and CSS directly in Visual Studio. I also created full websites as a freelance developer mostly using Wordpress as a content management system to allow clients to easily update their content.
Since then, I began working in more specialized shops with dedicated visual designers with whom I work closely, focusing on the front end coding. I have worked in Angular, React, and currently, Elm.
Skills include: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6), Sass, Accessibility, Elm, Angular, React, Elixir, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Wordpress, Git
